RIC Parameters

Reach, Impact, and Confidence

Reach

Reach is an indication of how many users are affected by the defect.

  • To determine Reach, consider how many customers will be impacted by the defect within a defined time period
    • Consider a time period of 3 months by default as this aligns with a quarterly cadence
  • Reach options
    • Extensive / Widespread
    • Significant / Large
    • Moderate / Limited
    • Minor / Localized
    • Isolated

Impact

Impact is a measure of the consequence (like severity) of the defect.

Impact should not be confused with an impact radius (Reach).

  • Impact options
    • Significant Adverse Consequences
    • Disruptive, clinic-level impacts
    • Disruptive, provider-level impacts
    • [Some impact, but] has workaround
    • Minor annoyance, no real impact

Confidence

Considering available data and information how confident are you of the Reach and Impact selections?

  • Confidence options:
    • High [the default value for the CDR Model]
      • Ample data, good clarity on who is impacted and the extent/reach of the defect
    • Medium
      • Clear understanding of the domain, a fairly good understanding of reach and impact
    • Low
      • Highly subjective, lack of data with significant obstacles/impediments to overcome for improved confidence
